El Nido is a first class municipality and managed resource protected area in the province of Palawan in the Philippines. It is about 420 kilometres (260 mi) south-west of Manila, and about 238 kilometres (148 mi) north-east of Puerto Princesa, Palawan’s capital. According to CNNGo, it is the Best Beach and Island destination in the Philippines for its "extraordinary natural splendor and ecosystem. If you never heard of EL NIDO feel free to look up google images.
Aside from the natural beauty of the island , it was the people of El Nido that I was most interested in learning more about.
We took a boat from Coron Palawan to EL Nido for about 7-8 hours sailing, It was peak season when we arrived so 98% of the accommodation in the island are fully booked. So I opt to pitch a tent just right next to a local community in Corong Corong beach near Bacuit.
